It’s Okay To Say “I Don’t Know”

Sometimes your kids will have questions about God (or anything!) that you don’t know the answer to. There is no shame in that. It is perfectly ok to say “I don’t know.” It’s so important for kids to know that you don’t know everything, and that it’s okay to not know everything. “I don’t know, buddy, let me look it up for you/let me research it and I’ll let you know when I know more.” Or even, “let’s ask Miss Francesca.” This is a great example of humility, which is important for them to learn. Even I need to look things up sometimes. One of my favorite things about our Catholic faith is that there is over 2,000 years of theology for us to learn! There are thousands of books we can read! We will be learning our whole lives and still not know everything about our faith.

Please never worry about how to answer your kids’ questions. That’s what this blog is for. Please email me your questions, I’ll be so happy to help both your kids and yourself!
